The proposal to redevelopment 360 West 2nd Street in South Boston was approved for 19 condos with 25 garage parking spaces. As I've mentioned in previous posts, I think the project is too large, but it's still better than the ugly transfer station that's currently on the lot.
In addition, the developer finally started pouring the footings for the foundation at 348 West 2nd Street. He will be building 9 condos with garage parking for 13 cars. It's been a pretty slow process hampered by delays. Hopefully both projects will be 100% complete in 2012.
South Boston remains one of the hottest neighborhoods for young professional condo buyers and developers. With many old 3 families, industrial buildings, and vacant lots prime for development, I think you will see this trend continue over the next 10 years. The area still has so much potential. Now we just need some retail on Broadway!
