Interesting news today. A posh new doggy hotel will be opening in the South End this month. Sounds a little strange to me, but K9 owners certainly love their dogs, so I wouldn't be surprised if it does well. The South End has many trendy businesses, so this should fit right in. It is opening on Malden Street which is between Albany Street and Harrison Ave, right near the restaurant Gaslight. So what do you think? Will any of my readers bring their pooch's to the hotel? Boston's South End, a hot spot for new restaurants and shops, will now accommodate classy canines.

The Urban Hound Daycare and Hotel, which bills itself as Boston's first luxury hotel for dogs, has leased 8,500 square feet at 129 Malden St. in Boston.

The Urban Hound plans to open this month. The hotel will use the two-story building for its operations, and plans to have a hospital-grade air filtration system, high-tech drainage and flushing system, K-9 grass, an Urban Hound training classroom and luxury sleep suites.

Peter Bean, vice president of GVA Thompson Hennessey & Partners, represented the landlord, 129 Malden Street Trust. The tenant was represented by Bonny Doorakian of NAI Hunneman Commercial Co.
