The unofficial start to the fall real estate market happened today. If you have been looking for a place to buy this summer, as many of my clients have, you know how difficult it has been to find a suitable condo/home for a reasonable price. The summer is typically a slower time for real estate as many Boston homeowners are thinking about their Cape house and boat, and not buying or selling real estate. Sunday open houses are usually slow, especially if the weather is nice. I know I'm not looking to work on Sunday if it's 85 and sunny. Haha!
That all changes now as kids go back to school, sellers go back to selling, and buyers go back to searching for homes. If you are looking to buy condo or home, expect to see a number of places come on the market this week and throughout this month. If you find a good deal, snatch it up, because inventory in Boston is very tight right now. I was out with a client today, and we have been unable to find a decent 2 bed/2 bath condo in Back Bay for $700,000. Hopefully my statements above will come true and her dream home will come on the market this month. Until then, we'll continue our search.
