Trulia - Like the online website, this app offers many useful tools to customize your search. One of my favorite things to do is search by current location, so if you are driving through a neighborhood, you can easily pull up what homes are for sale, and for what price. I dislike the ads that pop up at the top of the screen, but that's to be expected with a free app. Overall, great real estate app if you are searching for homes or condos for sale in Boston on a smart phone.

Zillow AppZillow - I utilize the Zillow and Trulia app an equal amount to search for Boston luxury condos or Weston real estate. What I like better about the Zillow app is that it shows homes sold, as well as current inventory. This is especially valuable when you drive by a house you love, and you want to see what it would cost to buy it. The sale and rent Zestimate it always interesting to review, even though most times it's off by thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Houzz AppHouzz - If you are building, renovating or furnishing a home, the best app is Houzz. You can obtain ideas on finishes, paint colors, architecture, furnishings, layouts, appliances, etc. This is probably my favorite app of the 5, as it allows you to save photos to your Ideabook's, which you can later revisit, or show to a contractor, friend or spouse. You can pretty much search anything home related and be able to find photos associated with that topic.

Homesnap AppHomesnap - Ever drive by homes in Wellesley and wonder what they are worth? Snap a photo of a home with this app, and it will utilize GPS to locate the property, and then pull data from town records. This app is more fun to use, and is not necessarily for buyer's out shopping for properties, but it's a cool app that's fun and easy to use. Next time you drive by a house you want to buy, pull out your smart phone, open up Homesnap, take a photo, and voila, you'll have an estimate value.

Bankrate AppBankrate - I use this app the least of these 5, but it has some nice features if you are shopping for a mortgage, checking rates, calculating mortgage payments, or considering refinancing. It's much easier to use than the Trulia Mortgage app, and I like the mortgage calculator. What's also nice is it updates the average daily rates on the 30 year, 15 year, and 5/1 ARM, and a couple other products. A nice mortgage app that's simple to use, and packs some great news and information.
